ABOUT THE COFFEE
Great coffee starts with real impact
Lalesa is the largest washing and drying station in Gedeb and stands out as one of Ethiopia’s most forward-thinking coffee projects. Operated by Ephtah Specialty Coffee under the leadership of Wubit Bekele, the station employs up to 250 seasonal workers during harvest and is recognized for its commitment to transparency, women’s empowerment, and community development.
Impact here is not just a promise—it’s visible and tangible. An on-site daycare allows women to work with peace of mind, while the production of traditional handwoven baskets, sold beyond the local area, creates additional income opportunities. Visiting Lalesa makes one thing clear: exceptional coffee is built on genuine impact.
Variety
This coffee is composed of traditional Ethiopian heirloom varieties—a unique genetic heritage of indigenous cultivars selected and adapted over generations. Grown at high altitude, these varieties are prized for their complexity, floral aromatics, and juicy fruit character, hallmarks of top-tier naturally processed Ethiopian coffees.
