This coffee arrives from Nyaksheny, a remote area in the southwest of Uganda and it was collected by several out growers, who are part of Kingha Collective.
Collecting the cherries in this area is very tricky because of the weather conditions. The harvest period coincides with rain season: trucks are not used to transport the coffee bags, people use only boda-bodas (motorcycles) where can be loaded max 2 coffee bags at a time. The biggest challenge is with no doubt infrastructural: the precarious dirt streets get inaccessible after each downpour.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER:
Kinga Estate was founded by a Canadian school teacher who lived in Dubai, Kingsley Griffin. The extreme change of his life, from school teacher to coffee farmer, is so fascinating.
He went to Uganda with his wife for a tourist trip. During their vacation in Uganda, they came across in to a local school that needed help, so they decided to donate some money. 
The next summer, Kingsley decided to come back to Uganda and give a concrete hand, instead of just sending some money out. He lived in a traditional house with no electricity and running water. While he was helping locals, he realized that coffee plants were growing spontaneous all around so he decided to start a coffee charity side project. He convinced his wife and they bought 20 hectares and started to grow coffee plants from scratch. With no experience and knowledge, Kinglsey started a small business that has become a lead character for the entire community.
Kingsley is also working with some carefully selected out-growers in the Kinungu district and the coffee that arrives from these producers is called Kingha Collective.
Kingha Estate, the farm, provides education and training programs, thereby helping farmers to produce higher yields and better quality coffee, significantly increasing their income. Kingha Coffee also works with local schools, providing clothing, school supplies, and agricultural education programs within the local community.
